GARDEN OF THE GODS: June 3 (Day 12)
We awoke Wednesday to a thick overcast sky and a wet ground from rain the night before. For the good part of the morning we waited for the sun to peak through so we could go back to Red Rock Canyon and go back to the 5.9 we tried the day before. Around 1PM we felt we had our chance, so we took the 5 minute drive to Red Rock. The second we stepped out of our car we were met by pouring rain which washed away any hopes of climbing.
Luckily for us it was sunny just a few miles away at Garden of the Gods. This cluster of enormous rock formations are visible from anywhere in Colorado Springs and rise straight up almost 300 feet above the surrounding landscape. Check out the pictures.

That evening Mike showed us a place to do some bouldering with some nice overhangs that kept the rock dry through the rain. Luckily we had our headlamps so we could see well in the night. We found a problem which we later found out to be a V2. Nate finished it first, then Mike got it with an alternate start, while I could never get past the crux about halfway up.

We got a pretty good workout in from bouldering at Ute Rock. So to finish of our night we went to Sonic for some free Root Beer Floats in our evening wear.
Don't ask.
