BISHOP, CA June 9 (day 18)

We left Vegas around 3pm and headed for Bishop, CA, one of the climbing scene’s best known bouldering areas. We drove up and got a camping spot right at the base of the boulders just before dusk. We hit the hay early to get up and boulder early the next morning.
We got up to this amazing view of the Eastern Sierras.

After breakfast we went to boulder on some tough problems. The granite rock really rips up your fingers, so we could only go for a couple hours.

With the afternoon free we decided to drive up to Sabrina Lake to wash up in the glacial streams and do some fishing. The water was cold (duh) and Nate didn’t catch any fish before breaking his pole after the hook caught on a submerged tree. But it was still fun and pretty scenic.

We finished up the day with dinner at The Upper Crust, a pizza place in Bishop. That’s where we are currently blogging our faces off. Tomorrow we’re getting up early to ride at Mammoth Mountain.

  1. The Upper Crust...sounds like the perfect spot for a rich alum like yourself. Did they let Nate in?
