MT HOOD,LAST DAYS: June 26-27 (Day 35-36)

After taking a day off to go climb at Smith Rock, we chose to do two more days at Mt Hood before finally trekking back East to get home for the 4th of July. The last two days rewarded us with perfect weather and great terrain. It was sad to finally leave, but not before some more zany adventures.

Our last day on snow was the first day of session 3 for High Cascade and Windell's Snowboard Camps. All the new kids made sure the lift lines were nice and long all day. FUN. Standing inline that morning we saw pro Scott Stevens standing in line next to us. We ended up riding with him up the lift and had quite a conversation. Stevens was a super cool guy and we ended up talking about none other than Chris Bradshaw himself. We found out that Stevens loves Bradshaw and so do we.

The very next ride we rode up with two youngsters blaring Asher Roth "I Love College" out of some sort of newfangled boombox. Nate really took a liking to these adolescents and sang along with them then pitched the wonders of going to college at Penn State.

We called it quits after a day of hot laps and a hot rail session after the lifts closed. We were totally beat, but satisfied after 7+ days of riding at Mt Hood. We then went back to our campsite for our daily Trillium lake bath and started packing up camp.

Today we finally had some new neighbors move in just as we were leaving. There were some dudes next to us from Idaho that were planning on staying for two weeks to ride Hood, just like we were. They were chill and we showed them the ropes of the Airstrip. Upon saying goodbye they even threw us some Redbulls for the road.

Across the road moved in some in-the-flesh Portland scenesters. We originally thought they were snowboarders judging by their flannels, tight girl jeans and Nike dunks. Upon closer inspection we realized they had no snowboards and were, infact, actual scenesters.

One came over and asked us if he could buy some bugspray off of us. Nate looked around for a bit, as we had just packed up the car, and I delved into conversation with the scenester. I tried to pick his brain to see what made him tick, but true to form he played it cool, never once even hinting at emotion. After denying him, he went to our new neighbors and asked the same. After being rejected again he started rooting through their stuff, and things got weird. We acknowledged it was time to leave before it got weirder.

We made one last stop at Volcano Cones in Govy and headed off into the sunset to the great state of Washington.
